Artistic Director: Steven Mead
Competition, Workshops, Concerts, Conferences, Exhibition .......
"We’re counting down the months to ITEC2012 and the planned schedule which you can now see has so many great events, it's incredible to imagine that everything can be crammed into just a few days. Well we think we can do it, and we'd like you to be there to enjoy it all. During the week, the greatest tuba and euphonium players in the world will be accompanied by symphony orchestras in five concerts, wind orchestras in six concerts, brass bands in five concerts and many events with big band.
In addition we currently have 38 brass ensembles and groups from around the world as well as many of the world's leading tuba euphonium ensembles, and more than 80 soloists! In this Olympic year we are proud of our immense list of talent. You will hear these phenomenal musicians in recitals, workshops, clinics, seminars, concerts and masterclasses with performances each day that begin at 8:30am and conclude somewhere near midnight.
Many important new works will receive their debut performances, from leading composers such as: Bruce Broughton, Johan de Meij, Bertrand Moren, Simon Dobson, Andrew Duncan, Tom Davoren, Andy Scott, Rodney Newton, Pete Meechan, Oliver Waespi, Dana Wilson, Franz Cibulka, Steven Bryant, James Grant, Paul Elwood, Marco Pütz, with a lot more in prospect. There will be special concerts for composers Rolf Wilhelm and Philip Sparke, both who will be in attendance, and celebrating important birthdays this year.
We also have a very special guest trombonist for the last two days, perhaps the greatest jazz trombonist in the world today, Wycliffe Gordon.
With other star groups including the legendary Mnozil Brass, The Brass Band of Upper Austria, SoundINNBrass, several leading Austrian wind orchestras and military orchestras, we feel you will be in for an incredible experience in Linz.
A leading Austrian composer, Thomas Doss is writing a special signature piece for ITEC 2012, which will be heard many times during the week and then in full, on the banks of the Danube, where we bring together all the low brass young players from Austria, combining their sounds with every delegate with an instrument. What an amazing prospect this is! Now we want you to register as soon as you can, and when you need hotel bookings you can find everything through our site, and you'll find special rates offered by the Arcotel & OÖTouristik. Don't delay !
